On the
morning of September 19, 2023, the VNU University of Law held a meeting with
the delegation of the International Intellectual Property Training Institute
Korea. At the
meeting, the University of Law was pleased to welcome Mr. Kim Taeung (Dean of
IIPTI); Mr. Lee Huyndong (Head of the International Education Division, IIPTI),
Mr. Ryu Joohyun (Head of the International Cooperation Department, Korean
Invention Promotion Association (KIPA)); and representatives of IIPTI
departments.
The VNU University of Law side included A.Prof.Dr. Trinh Tien Viet (Vice Rector); Dr. Nguyen Bich Thao (Dean of the Faculty of Civil Law); Dr. Mai Van Thang (Head of the Department of Research Management and Partnership Development). Speaking at the opening of the meeting, A.Prof.Dr. Trinh Tien Viet gave an overview of the history, orientation, and structure of the VNU University of Law. The Vice Rector emphasized that the University of Law has cooperative relationships with numerous foreign partners, in particular, the University recently signed an extensive cooperation agreement with the School of Law, Korea University. Currently, many of our training programs have been accredited by the ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance (AUN-QA), including the Master's program in Civil Law and Civil Procedure Law that IIPTI is very interested in. "Many Korean students are pursuing bachelor's and master's degrees at our the university as well," Vice-Rector added. A.Prof.Dr. Trinh Tien Viet hoped that the two sides would soon have substantive cooperation activities. During the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Bich Thao also provided information on IP training activities at the University of Law to IIPTI. "IIPTI focuses on the field of intellectual property. Currently, the Institute has cooperated with WIPO and launched an intellectual property training program for experts, scholars, and students. The Institute also focuses on building online training courses aimed at several specific subjects." Mr. Lee Huyndong said. Regarding cooperation, IIPTI proposed that the two sides coordinate to organize online training courses on intellectual property, the Korean side will be responsible for teaching content to combine with available teaching content from the University of Law. In addition, IIPTI expected to invite experts from the University of Law to lecture on several subjects at the Institute. At the end of the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue to discuss more specifically about cooperation opportunities in the future.
